Level Measurement & Control

More than just a TDR

October 2004 Level Measurement & Control

In contrast to earlier guided radar devices, the new Optiflex 1300 C from Krohne has higher signal dynamics, thanks to its more advanced design. This means better and highly stable measurement. Despite disturbances such as strongly agitated surfaces, foam and coating of the probe or fine dust in the tank, Optiflex will continue to measure where competitors' devices capitulate. The sharper pulses measure thinner interfaces (50 mm). High time base stability allows better reproducibility.

Set-up wizard

Setting up the 2-wire level gauge is easy. The user fits the gauge to the tank, wires it up and switches it on. In the next step Optiflex tests itself to make sure its electronics are working perfectly. To define the tank and the product the user is measuring, the Optiflex Wizard walks the user through a simple series of questions. In the case where the user does not know what to do, waiting for 10 seconds will bring up the help screen.

PACTware-ready

Each Optiflex is supplied ex-factory with the appropriate DTM. A DTM (device type manager) is a device driver making available the device functionality independent from the Fieldbus protocol and providing a graphical user interface optimised for device operation and configuration. Simple on-screen and intuitive set-up procedure are provided for devices without a display, or for set-up from the central control room.

Various probe types cover all applications

Optiflex 1300 C is available with five different probes:

* Single rod.

* Double rod.

* Single cable.

* Double cable.

* Coaxial.
