With the introduction of the Altosonic V, Krohne pioneered multibeam measurement, multiproduct measurement, and contributed significantly to custody transfer technology. It is believed that the success of Altosonic V (see picture) was a major reason for ultrasonic measuring technologies to be accepted by the American Petroleum Institute.
For single products, Krohne also offers a multibeam meter, the Altosonic III.
For gas products in custody transfer application, Krohne has elected to use the Sick Maihak Ultrasonic flowmeter, brand labelled as Krohne Altosonic IV. As could be seen from the electromagnetic flowmeter exhibits at the recent Interkama, Krohne has taken a major leap forward in developing a new converter generation with a multitude of additional features, such as meter diagnosis to NAMUR and more, and also better than SIL2. Also offered are application diagnosis and accuracy checks. This very same converter concept is destined for the Sick Maihak products.
The synergy between Krohne and Sick is perfectly clear - experts in liquid flow and converter technology working with experts with intimate know-how of gas flow in the oil and gas market. Krohne believes that major developments in this sector will continue to be seen in the near future.
