ProMicro is offering Advantech's ultra-compact CPU cards and system integration, which it says will provide an all-in-one solution for computing and telecommunications projects.
An established, worldwide company has taken one of Advantech's small all-in-one SBCs, the PCM-4823, and integrated it into its web-enabled building automation system. It uses Advantech solutions on its SmartNode. SmartNode is a Microsoft Windows CE-based industrial controller, which directly controls various devices and is installed at each user's apartment or office unit. Their SmartNodes monitor and control all the building automation devices, such as lights, sensors, video, safety and security devices. Advantech's card gave this company all the features; system integration and total solution support that helped them achieve their design goals.
Advantech's PCM-4823 CPU board was chosen for this application because it has both 16 bit Ethernet and 32 bit VGA/LCD capabilities already on board. In addition, the PCM-4823 was also chosen because it has an extremely small size, low power consumption and lacks any moving parts. Besides the PCM-4823 CPU board, Advantech supplied the PCD-2000 DiskOnChip Flash Disk, the PS-50A 50W switching power supply, the MBPC-200 MicroBox and of course a Windows CE 2.11 customised image and licence sticker. This total solution helped solve the complete needs of the customer, from design to system implementation.
