Infrared thermometer camera with powerful features

August 2004 Temperature Measurement

The Raytek PhotoTempTM MX6 combines a precision infrared thermometer, for accurate non-contact surface temperature measurements from -50°C to +900°C, plus a digital camera for photo documentation and inspection verification. Simply point the unit at the target, pull the trigger and see realtime temperatures, together with maximum, minimum, average and differential values in the LCD. Hi and low alarms can be set by the user, triggering a snapshot of targets outside the acceptable temperature range. This simple unit can store up to 100 locations, which can then be downloaded via a USB link to Data Temp MX Software (supplied with unit) on a laptop or desktop PC.

Once in the PC, the image can be titled and enhanced and then used in historical trending and reports. By using an inspection tool, like the MX6, follow-ups on routine inspections and thermal imaging surveys to check and re-check repair status is made simple. One of the biggest benefits of the MX6 is the ability to do predictive maintenance by setting up maintenance routs and compiling equipment temperature footprints.

Believed to be the only thermal imager in its price category to provide simultaneous thermal imaging and spot temperature measurement, featuring the same simple point, shoot and read operation of an infrared thermometer, the Ti30 shows the thermal image with high image quality. What is also displayed on the large LCD screen is the realtime temperature, and useful information such as time, date and location.

The unit provides three pallets for image viewing, including rainbow, iron bow and greyscale. Up to 100 images and temperature data can be stored in the unit and quickly downloaded either to a laptop in the field via a standard USB connection, or back in the office at a PC using the convenient docking station provided with the unit.

Once the shots are in the PC, the off-camera analysis starts with options to manipulate spot points on the image, emissivity changes, temperature scaling, pallet colour change, reflective temperature compensation, isotherm heat tracing and full self generating reports.
