IFM Electronic's TR2432 is a universal control and display unit for the connection of platinum (Pt) temperature sensors. The electronics automatically detect whether two-wire, three-wire or four-wire Pt 100 or Pt 1 000 sensors are connected.
The sensor has a scaleable analog output of 0 to 10 V or 4 to 20 mA, and a wide measuring range from -40 to 300°C. By using only one sensor, many common temperature measurement and monitoring tasks in the manufacturing and process industries can be addressed. An integrated 10-segment display provides local visual indication of the current temperature while the additional switching output indicates limit temperatures.
For continuous temperature measurement, for example in food processing, the measuring amplifier has a high resolution and scaleable analog output. The integrated display shows the current process temperature, and if this is not required, it can be switched off.
In critical process states such as minimum or maximum, limit temperatures can be directly monitored using the independent switching output. As only one unit is required, instead of several, significant savings can be realised through reduced purchasing, stocking, maintenance and plant downtime.
