University of KZN is pleased with its new calibrator

University of KwaZulu-Natal's School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering recently updated its calibration facility by installing the Fluke 9100E calibrator.

Anthony Lester, Material Sciences Laboratory and Calibration test technician, is responsible for keeping the faculty's instrumentation to optimum standards. Undergraduate students and academics alike are using this calibrator to keep their digital multimeters within manufacturers' calibration standards.

Lester says of the acquisition, "Previously record keeping was repetitive and time-consuming. With the new Fluke 9100E, calibration time is vastly reduced and more significantly, record keeping is streamlined due to the innovative memory slot facility. We could not be more impressed with the amazing functionality of the instrument."

Other features that assured the new acquisition were:

* Lightweight (one person can pick it up).

* Excellent price/performance ratio.

* Calibration procedures on PCM/CIA cards eliminates the need for computer control.

* Ease of use by means of dynamic soft-keys.

* Usable for DMM (up to 4-digit), clamp meters electronic thermometers, chart recorders, XY recorders and data loggers.

* Output up to 1000 A (AC and DC) using current coil supplied.

* Frequency.

* Siemens (reciprocal resistance).

* Memory card data storing facility.

* Print-out for reporting purposes.

The Fluke 9100E was voted Test Product of the Year by readers of Test & Measure World because of its ability to calibrate every multimeter function in a single box, giving the user the ability to replace as many as eight calibration instruments with this single calibrator. The 9100E gives dedicated and adequate workload coverage in a single unit.
