Level Measurement & Control

Range of radar level devices

May 2004 Level Measurement & Control

Radar systems, originally used for determining the location of ships and aeroplanes and for navigation purposes, have been developed to technical perfection. The accuracy of the radar principle makes the technology suitable for level measurement.

Atelier is offering Afriso's RadarFox range of level measurement devices. High accuracy together with the ability to suppress interference signals are important features for level measurement in storage or process containers, tanks, silos or reactors. Conditions that may contribute to noise in the signal include installed components, beams, welding seams, paddles of stirrers, deposits of material crumbling and falling, turbulent surfaces or high temperatures.

The modular RadarFox line of devices consists of the signal converter, the flange and the antenna. The RMG01 to RMG04 devices provide a 4 to 20 mA current output with HART protocol (software PC Level R1), models RMG03 and RMG04 can be retrofitted with a bus interface (RS485, Profibus PA) at the current output.

Antenna extensions are used in case of adverse mounting conditions or high temperatures. The antennas may be equipped with optional flushing systems. Antenna heating or cooling units are available for compensation of low or high temperatures. The RadarFox signal converters can be operated via a user interface in a number of different languages. The aluminium housing of the signal converter provides IP66/IP67 (EN 60529) protection. These systems are suitable for high-precision measurement of distance, level or volume of liquids, pastes and slurries in reactors, process or storage containers, stilling wells or all types of tanks from waste water tanks to liquid gas tanks.
