Wireless I/O directly into Ethernet
February 2004
SCADA/HMI
For those struggling to interface wireless I/O into an Ethernet network, Elpro has a product that allows the easy integration of remote digital and analog I/O via radio directly into computer and scada networks.
Elpro's WIB concept is especially designed to link field instrumentation, PLC, scada and radio telemetry function into one system that overcomes many constraints imposed by conventional cabling. The WIB radio modules can interface via Ethernet, Modbus and Profibus. It has over 4000 I/O registers, which can be updated by any Elpro radio telemetry module in the field and can be read directly with scada software or a PLC over the network.
These interfaces allow the easy and cost-effective integration of Ethernet, Modbus, and Profibus remote telemetry I/O without the worries of protocol conversions. When the need for direct radio linking of PLC systems arises, the WIB makes life easy: Protocol development is now a problem of the past.
An example: PLCs with different protocols can exchange information without the need of special drivers, software adaptations etc. The PLCs will communicate with its WIB module and the different WIB modules with each other. These and other great features make the new WIB from Elpro a powerful and easy to use interface for data acquisition and control. Elpro radio modules are exclusively distributed in South Africa by UniTemp.
