Keops Altech is now Altech Informatics

January 2004 News

Keops Altech, a leading provider of manufacturing execution and control systems to the South African processing industry and an established integrator of multilevel industrial information systems, has with immediate effect changed its name to Altech Informatics.

The holding company of Keops Altech, the multibillion Rand JSE-listed Altech, recently acquired the full share capital of Keops Altech from long time Canadian partner, Keops Technologies, which in turn facilitated the integration of certain of the Altech Information Technology assets. Keops Altech, with its excellent delivery record, ISO 9001:2000 accreditation and consistent financial results, has been chosen as the vehicle to lead this process and recently announced the integration of the Isis SAP and contracting businesses.

After careful consideration it was decided to create a new brand and image to exploit the successful Altech brand, with a specific focus on providing world class IT solutions to the mining and manufacturing sectors in South Africa, as well as pursuing focused opportunities in the public sector. Altech Informatics provides a full complement of services, including operations and strategic IT consulting, full life-cycle industrial IT projects, including process automation and control, manufacturing execution systems, enterprise resource planning, supply chain management, as well as application outsourcing and support. Altech Informatics has a unique value proposition to existing and prospective clients in that it can offer integrated industrial IT solutions on a turnkey basis as well as managed services, enabling it to become a one-stop solution provider for its clients.

Managing director of Keops Altech, Pieter Theron, said, "The offering is in line with national and international trends and customers were extremely positive. Our clients can capitalise on Altech Informatics' manufacturing customer portfolio, focus on delivery and the essential process knowledge when negotiating new contracts. Altech Informatics, through the old Keops Altech, already has an excellent delivery record and it is our aim to be known as the best provider of IT solutions in our chosen industries, thus our slogan of 'We deploy IT intelligently'. "Altech Informatics is currently negotiating several empowerment acquisition and partnership deals that could see the company become a major player in the industrial IT market.

"The Altech group is well-known and respected not only in South Africa, but world-wide for its financial stability, vast resources and sound business acumen. Because our new name reflects our affiliation to the Altech group, it will enable us to capitalise on Altech's excellent reputation in the market and obtain the required mind-share. At the same time, our service will continue to be personalised. We are therefore big enough to tackle any project, yet sufficiently focused to care about all projects. That has to be the best of both worlds."
