Roadshow visits the Eastern Cape
October 2003
News
The winds of August turned into a last cold snap on the eve of the Control Roadshow to East London. Exhibitors arriving from Gauteng brought with them reports of snow on all the mountaintops and we all feared the worst. Would we be stranded with a shortage of snow ploughs in East London?
Back to reality, as one would expect, 19 August turned out to be another pleasant day in Africa and at 12:00 the doors to the show opened at the Turnbull Park Recreation Hall in East London. One gets the sense that this city is very dependent on one major industry here, and although the visitor support from other industry groups was encouraging, the larger industries gave the impression of being self-supportive.
A days' travel down the coast took the team to the ETC centre on 21 August for the, now annual, Control Roadshow in Port Elizabeth. As usual this event is very well attended by the local control and instrumentation users and again saw many new visitors that had not visited in previous years. Both events on this trip were very well represented by the South African suppliers to this industry, and in both venues some exhibitors needed to erect their displays in the entrances to the venues.
Exhibitors that took part in the Eastern Cape Control Roadshow were:
ABB Automation, AC/DC dynamics, Adroit Technologies, Anglo Allied Engineering, Asco/Joucomatic, Atlas Industrial Systems, AWR Smith Process Instrumentation, Burkert Contromatic, Citect Africa, Control Tech/CT Dynamics, Cosmotronics Industrial, Ind Auto & Control, Innomatic, Krohne, Lapp Cable, Loadtech, Mantech Electronics, National Instruments, Omniflex, PREI Instrumentation, RS Components SA, Schneider Electric, Shorrock Automation, Tapeus Marketing, Temperature Controls, Throughput Technologies, UPCor/MGE, Wika Instruments, Yokogawa SA.
