Digital multimeter software delivers 1,8 MS/s

Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration
Design and test engineers can now operate the National Instruments' 6½digit FlexDMM as a 1,8 MS/s high-voltage isolated digitiser and accelerate measurement speed up to 100% with the NI-DMM 2.1 driver software.
NI-DMM 2.1 demonstrates the power of virtual instrumentation by delivering new measurement capability to the NI PXI-4070 FlexDMM. With the new isolated digitiser measurement capability, engineers can acquire both AC and DC-coupled waveforms up to ±300 V (425 V a.c. peak) input at a maximum sample rate of 1,8 MS/s. By combining NI LabView graphical development software with the isolated digitiser mode of the FlexDMM, engineers can analyse transients, fly-back signals and other non-repetitive high-voltage AC waveforms in both the time and frequency domain.
The optimised NI-DMM 2.1 also has a dramatic impact on the DC voltage and resistance measurement speed of the FlexDMM. Improvements in the software further optimise measurement speed on what is laid claim to being the industry's fastest 6½-digit DMM. The chart details the performance gains with the new driver software.

Engineers can improve productivity by using the new NI-DMM 2.1 simulation mode to create test applications without the FlexDMM hardware in their test configuration. The software provides external calibration procedures and functions for fully calibrating the FlexDMM in onsite calibration and metrology facilities. NI-DMM 2.1 driver software, which ships with the FlexDMM, is optimised for use with NI LabView, LabWindows/CVI, Visual Basic and Visual C++. With NI-DMM, engineers can measure thousands of channels consisting of voltages, thermocouples and RTDs by seamlessly integrating the FlexDMM with NI PXI switches, SCXI switches and NI Switch Executive switch management software. Existing FlexDMM users can download and install NI-DMM 2.1 as a free upgrade.
