Kübler has added a new model to its line of Profibus-DP programmable multiturn absolute encoders incorporating its patent 'I-S-T'and 'IT' technologies. A class 2 Profibus-DB fieldbus encoder supporting user specific configuration, even safety and diagnostic programming, it is available with 25 bits of resolution (8192) in the first turn and 4096 in subsequent turns). It fits into a compact IP67 housing that is 58 mm diameter by 80 mm long. 'I-S-T' and 'IT' technology incorporated into the contruction enables shock loads up to 250 g/6 ms, high resistance to EMI, higher reliability and longer life. This model is suited for application in, on and around frequency converters, drives, clutches and brakes. 'I-S-T' Intelligent Sensing Techology is a non-contact electronic multiturn technology with redundant systems and a sleep model to extend battery life beyond 10 years. It is not subject to the wear, noise, size or failure modes associated with traditional mechanical multiturn technology using gears or electronic technology that use batteries operating constantly. 'IT' Integrated Technology is a patented construction method using custom Asics with all components mounted on a single PCB.
