Smart electro-pneumatic positioner

Samson is offering a smart positioner with communication capabilities.
This Type 3780 smart i/p positioner is suitable for universal attachment to linear and rotary control valves by means of various adapter kits.
The positioner controls the actuator via two pilot-activated 2/2-way solenoid valves. In the steady-state condition, it stands out by its very low air consumption.
It derives the necessary power from the 'live-zero' of the analog 4 to 20 mA signal.
Communication capabilities of the Type 3780 smart positioner are achieved by an interface to the Hart protocol.
The Hart protocol (highway addressable remote transducer) is an open protocol that is already used by a number of field devices, such as transmitters.
The positioner can be configured from any place in the current loop, either via a handheld terminal or a PC, using a special modem.
This new positioner can easily be replaced by other conventional positioners.
Through internal digital signal processing, automatic start-up of the device is possible without the need for iterative zero and span adjustment.
Further options include:
* Selection of a desired signal characteristic.
* Reversal of positioner operating direction and travel limitation.
* Modification of actuating times.
* Fault indication output.
* Analog valve position indication.
* Inductive limit switches that are independent of the positioner firmware and ensure proper contact-making, even in the event of positioner failure.
