Variable frequency drive offers energy savings

Mitsubishi Electric Automation is offering its FR-F500(L) Series variable rrequency drive (VFD). The F500 Series consists of units rated from 0,75 kW through 375 kW at 400 V a.c.
The series has been developed to support energy-efficient operation of normal duty operations, such as fan and pump motors. An optimum excitation current control program improves motor efficiency under the low-torque conditions that are typical of the applications. Second-order deceleration torque patterns bring the output voltage below the level of fixed-torque patterns. This conserves energy by matching the motor output with the second-order deceleration loads typical of fans.
Intelligent energy saving control is possible due to the microprocessor-based current monitor loop which tracks motor energy and minimises the inverter output voltage. This function is suited to constant-speed operation and augments the benefits of second-order deceleration patterns.
The optimum excitation-current control program modifies the basic variable-voltage control mode. The function monitors the motor current and modulates the output voltage boosting the induction motor efficiency in the low-torque region typical of fan and pump motor applications.
Other advances include two parameter setting modes where the simple mode displays only essential parameters. Parameter copy functionality is built into the standard display panel as is RS485 communication. Maintenance has been simplified by the addition of removable terminal connectors, replaceable fan cassette and fan on/off control. The I/O terminal block provides a jumper setting for sink-source switching. The F500 (L) complies with UL, cUL, EN and ISO 9001 standards.
CBI, distributors of Mitsubishi Electric products, offers a comprehensive range of automation and motor control solutions. Products include programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable speed drives (VSDs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), motor control and switchgear (MC&SW) as well as air circuit breakers (ACBs), for a broad range of applications.
