Festo Didactic awarded MERSETA accreditation

July 2003 Training & Education

The Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Educational Training Authority (MERSETA) has awarded Festo Didactic full accreditation status for its broad range of hydraulic, pneumatic and PLC courses. MERSETA accredits education and training providers, monitors the provision of training, registers assessors, collaborates with other education and training quality assurance bodies and reports to the South African Qualifications Authority. Assessors visited all the Festo training centres nationwide - Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Stringent quality requirements had to be met, requiring the inspection of training material, training equipment, internal processes, record keeping and the qualifications of the lecturers.

Having conducted training in South Africa for over 25 years, Festo Didactic has educated more than 22 000 participants from all sectors of industry. The company has structured its courses to cover aspects ranging from basic general knowledge to advanced, leading edge technology. Hands-on practical exercises form an integral part of all Festo Didactic courses to ensure that participants gain real-world value from the training. Festo is ISO 9002 accredited.

"Companies can utilise Festo courses with the knowledge that they are receiving training of the highest calibre, not to mention that by using an accredited training provider they can claim a percentage of the skills levy to assist in financing the training courses," Festo Didactic manager, Tom Webster, points out. "The accreditation should serve as just another indication that we are committed to delivering the highest level of training in South Africa."
