The Meriam MFC 4100 instrument is a full-function HART communicator supporting universal common practice, and device-specific commands. Available from Protea Automation Solutions, the MFC is designed for the life cycle of the plant process devices - commissioning, configuration and maintenance operations. All HART field devices can be configured, polled, and trimmed using the MFC with HART communications.
The communicator is designed for optimum convenience and usability. It can be always handheld because there is never a need to send the unit to have it updated. New device profiles are downloaded via the Internet, saving time and increasing availability. HART error messages are interpreted.
Data is shown on a 13-line backlit display, and a full alphanumeric keypad that handles 26 alpha codes and multiple symbols provides a variety of input options. Menus can be scrolled through quickly with numbered HART menus, up/down/select keys on the keypad, or thumb navigation buttons. Clone devices as needed for commissioning, operation, and maintenance can be uploaded or downloaded as required.
The instrument is arranged in a durable, injection-moulded ABS case, measuring 254 x 105 x approximately 41 mm. An elastic rear hand strap allows for easy carrying, and a removable hanging strap facilitates transport whilst keeping both hands free. A soft carrying case is provided.
