South African software is now being used to monitor an offshore gas pipeline for Transcanada of The Netherlands.
Communicating via microwave and leased-line connections between the offshore platform and the northern Netherlands, the Adroit supervisory control and data acquisition (scada) software was installed to supervise flow, production and pipeline inventory calculation as well as distribution. Adroit's distributor in The Netherlands, Datawatt Telecontrol Systems partnered the scada package with a Wincoach data management program on an NT Server with several clients.
A DO1 front-end processor polls modular remote terminal units for real-time and historical data, which are converted into hourly, daily and random reports by Adroit. Datawatt's own flow computer is used to extend the remote terminal units via ISO5167 metering. It then simultaneously calculates the hourly/daily production of any four meters at one time.
