Westlock produces a corrosion-resistant, NEMA 4, 4x resin enclosure with simple latch cover design, suitable for general-purpose and nonincendive, Division 2 areas.
The enclosure has been engineered for ease of operation. No tools are required for access to the internal components or the setting of position sensors. Designed to NEMA 4, 4x, and nonincendive electrical component housing requirements, the latch cover enclosure with its stainless steel latches is excellent for corrosive environments.
The Series 6000 enclosure optionally incorporates moulded-in stainless steel conduit connections with integrated grounding block and the capability for implementation of up to five conduit entrances.
Magnum sensors
The series 6000, supported by FM and CSA Hazardous Location, Division 2 certification, employs Magnum proximity sensors for feedback of valve performance to microcomputers or programmable logic controllers. Magnum sensors couple high-current switching capabilities with hermetic sealing to prevent the adverse effects of transients, moisture or corrosive conditions.
National electrical code
The Series 6000 enclosure when filled with hermetically sealed Magnum sensors, meets all of the requirements for Class 1, Division 2 hazardous locations as outlined in the NEC (National Electrical Code). Article 501.3(b) of the code states, "General-purpose enclosures shall be permitted in Class 1, Division 2 locations if the current interrupting contacts are enclosed within a hermetically sealed chamber".
Advanced composite enclosure
High-performance resins, such as Zytel, offer a viable alternative to metal enclosures for applications where caustic washdowns, chloride atmospheres and salt water environments are a daily occurrence. The 'supertough' Series 6000 has the highest impact resistance of any engineered thermoplastic, possesses a maximum resistance to weathering and carries a UL flammability rating of 94-HB.
Chemical resistance
Highly resistant to a wide range of chemicals, the Series 6000 is excellent for corrosive environments containing caustics, chlorides, salt water, hydrocarbons, organic reagents, keytones, alcohols, esters and food products. Unaffected by electrolytic corrosion and high concentrates of alkalies, Zytel is also remarkably resistant to attack from bacteria and fungi.
