EPLAN Cogineer, an innovative new development that automatically generates schematics, celebrated its premiere at Hanover this year. “We’ve developed a solution that is easy to use and yet very innovative as regards functionality,” explains senior vice president of product management and development, Dieter Pesch. A mechatronic rulebook and configuration interfaces can be put together intuitively and quickly without knowledge of any high level programming languages – experience with the use of macros suffices – and it’s the macros that serve as the basis for creating the sets of rules. Schematics can be generated based either on the functional structures or from the system-specific perspective. EPLAN Cogineer meets user needs exactly, with no changes needed. The result is a flexible solution that is enjoyable to use and saves both time and money. “One hundred per cent data continuity from design to construction allows EPLAN Cogineer users to process customer projects precisely without delay,” Pesch adds. “It does this completely independently of the people involved in the process. EPLAN Cogineer’s essential features are clear time savings due to automatic schematic generation, while increasing quality through error avoidance.”
EPLAN Cogineer can generate complete electrotechnical documentation with just one click. This results in two crucial advantages. First, it ensures the error-free implementation of defined rules and structures, thus guaranteeing high quality documentation. Second, substantially more projects can be developed in the same amount of time than was the case with the copying and pasting of pages and macros. EPLAN Cogineer offers absolute data continuity from product structuring through to specific project implementation and supports compliance with norms and standards. This ensures the greatest possible precision and maximum efficiency. The first project can be generated within a short period of time, thanks in part to the intuitive user interface.
‘Learning by doing’ is the maxim for users. EPLAN Cogineer is designed to be an easily deployable tool for occasional users and power users alike, allowing them to configure projects and generate projects in EPLAN Electric P8. It does not matter whether machines or plants have already been structured according to functional aspects or to a system-specific perspective. The new solution also takes a scalable configuration approach to the chosen working methods. A mix of traditional working methods and configurations, for instance with manual and configurable subprojects, can be combined as needed.
