Siemens is extending the Ruggedcom RX1500 product family for industrial communication to include a new line module which supports LTE (Long Term Evolution). The new module allows 4G connectivity to be established both for devices already in use and new ones, opening up the latest wireless wide area networks to users. The new line module is particularly suited for electric power utilities and industrial plants, as well as for rail and traffic control systems.
The Ruggedcom RX1500 portfolio from Siemens complies with protection rating IP30 and encompasses cost-effective Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, as well as routers for industrial applications. This product family, which can be individually configured in accordance with customer requirements, is now being extended by Siemens to include a new line module.
At home in industrial environments
The products of the Ruggedcom portfolio are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. Not only do they feature an IP30 protection rating, but also require no internal fans for cooling during operation and are immune to most electromagnetic interference and voltage fluctuations.
The Ruggedcom products operate reliably at temperatures of -40 to 85°C and are available in a range of variants with metal housings. The RX1500 and RX1501 are intended for rack-mounting, and the RX1510, RX1511 and RX1512 are used with DIN-rail mounting.
