Schneider Electric continues to be at the forefront of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions with the addition of new, enterprise-wide IIoT plant performance and control software to its PlantStruxure PES, Foxboro Evo process automation systems and Foxboro I/A Series distributed system.
Schneider has leveraged its Expertune PlantTriage technology and EcoStruxure Control Advisor – a native smart decision support tool that provides plants with personal, actionable, real-time operating data and predictive analytics capabilities to monitor and adjust every control loop continuously across multiple plant and global sites. The software enables real-time efficiency and improved business performance throughout the plant by increasing energy savings and production capacity.
Marc Ramsay, vice president of industry business at Schneider Electric South Africa, says that strengthening the efficiency of the process in real time has a tremendous positive impact on the entire operation and business, and it puts customers on the path toward controlling other critical business variables such as safety, reliability and profitability, in real time.
Control Advisor continuously monitors plant performance and identifies potential issues in real time, before they occur. “The information it provides empowers the workforce to be more actively involved and responsible for the success of the business, a great example of how Schneider Electric applies its expertise and technology at every level,” adds Ramsay.
Control Advisor represents Schneider’s philosophy of innovation at every level, as it can be applied to big data, predictive analytics and other emerging technologies in helping customers to drive their operational profitability and improvement. Since Control Advisor is integrated with PES, Foxboro Evo and I/A Series process automation and control systems, it enables users to improve on their business performance. Its greatest efficiency is that it’s easy to use and operates across a broad spectrum of industrial applications without requiring substantial capital investment.
Furthermore, Control Advisor extracts more value from existing investments by bringing plant operations closer to set point, minimising out-of-spec production and identifying predictive maintenance indicators. “Control Advisor builds on Schneider Electric’s long history of excellence when it comes to connected technology, closed-loop control and performance optimisation across entire manufacturing operations,” concludes Ramsay.
