Parker Hannifin has introduced a new generation of press control manifolds. The PPCC series with pilot operated directional control valves offers a compact control manifold concept with a modular design for more flexibility and a variety of different functions, which are implementable without the use of additional manifolds. In comparison to its predecessor, this series reduces pressure losses even further, considerably increasing energy efficiency.
Parker’s new press controls are available in nominal sizes NG10, NG16 and NG25 making them suitable for almost all types of hydraulic press. Several functions can be implemented directly on the redesigned base manifold, such as rapid traverse cylinders, press cylinder activation and spring-loaded tools on the piston side and gravity fall on the rod side. The PPCC series is customisable to suit the application by way of the corresponding valve assembly. A load sensing function and the option to connect pressure sensors are already in the base manifold. Flow is controllable using a Parker TDA proportional throttle valve in the P-channel without the need to adjust the discharge flow.
With the PPCC series, the directional valve can be implemented for a direction-based function as a directional control or servo proportional DC valve. Alternatively, both of these are available as Parker hybrid valves to shift from normal to differential operation. This allows the use of smaller, more cost-effective pump sizes. In addition, up to two NG06 or NG10 stations can combine with the base manifold for auxiliary functions, such as filling valves or restraint devices. A module for setup mode is available as an option. In the case of press applications, which require a closed loop concept, the same manifold is usable with different equipment assemblies.
The PPCC series with pilot operated directional control valves retains the established safety concept of its predecessor. It has passed a type examination by the trade association (BG) in accordance with DIN EN 693 and already meets the requirements of the new DIN EN ISO 16092, which is available in draft form. It also complies with DIN EN 289 and when used as intended, it can reach performance level e according to DIN EN ISO 13849-1.
Parker’s latest press control is available now as a pilot operated PPCC series in all nominal sizes. The PPCB version with direct operated directional control valves in nominal sizes NG06 and NG10 will be available later in the year. Parker’s new PPCC press control is considerably more compact and diverse than its predecessor.
