The signal level of each individual channel is monitored and adjusted automatically to compensate for misalignment and contamination during operation and guarantee optimum performance. The system is a true ‘fit and forget’ product. The high gain performance of the units, together with the sealed construction, ensures that the light curtains operate reliably in applications with very harsh environments, including water spray, dust and industrial process contamination.
The optical design of the SpaceGuard series guarantees easy alignment of the light curtain pair. The system is configurable to operate with either parallel or cross scanning beams, which is selectable via a control input. The cross scan mode generates three crossed beams per channel, which produces a dense grid of interlaced light beams and ensures maximum resolution, allowing reliable detection of small diameter objects and extremely thin, flat objects. The parallel scan mode generates one parallel beam per channel and ensures the fastest response time and is suitable for high speed applications requiring high switching frequency.
