Elen Enclosures offers a new range of innovative side-mounted cabinet air conditioners, heat exchangers and combined air conditioner/heat exchanger units. These devices can operate in conventional 230 VAC as well as 48 VDC, and also a combination of both. Given the uncertainty of electricity supply in South Africa, the advantages of having AC/DC are obvious; almost a must in critical applications like cellular networks. The manufacturer uses only highest quality components (compressors, fans etc.) thus long service life is assured.
All units are fitted with a digital thermostat and RS-485 interface and can operate in three modes: standard, energy saving and low noise. They are suitable for outdoor use (IP55) and can be fitted with an optional condensate evaporator on the external cooling circuit.
The BQE Series of cabinet air conditioners are available in standard cooling capacities of 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 Watt. Higher cooling capacities are available on request.
In addition to the compressor type cooling units described above, Elen can supply heat exchangers based on heat pipe technology (Series HHE) and compressor air conditioners combined with heat pipe exchangers (Series AHU).
Heat pipe technology uses liquid-to-vapour (and vice versa) phase change for cooling effect and requires only internal and external DC fans. Therefore the exchanger can be operated from backup batteries during AC power failures or load shedding.
