Solar water pumping solutions are standalone systems operating on power generated by photovoltaic technology. The power generated by solar cells can be used for operating both submersible and above ground pumps from bore, open well or water reservoir situations.
The Omega solar submersible pump from Raptech, is solar driven by a DC brushless motor, which draws water from borehole pumps, wells or rivers. The pump then pours water into a reservoir or storage tank or directly into an irrigation system. Based on the requirements and installation conditions, screw pumps or multi-stage impeller pumps can be utilised.
In solar pumping systems, pump selection is essential, as it directly affects the economy and stability of the entire system. Submersible pumps, which have a wide application and speed regulating range, are common in solar pumping systems. Submersible pumps can increase the working time and water flow rate of the solar pumping system. If the user requires low head and high water flow, a multi-stage impeller pump can be selected. If a high head and low water flow are required, a screw pump can be selected.
The solar pumping inverter converts DC current from the solar array into AC current to drive the pump. With the maximum power point tracking function, it regulates the output frequency according to irradiation in real time to achieve maximum power. The solar inverter provides a fast response and stable operation. It is superior to conventional methods which may lead to problems including poor tracking performance or even water hammer damage if irradiation on the array changes rapidly. Additional features include digital control, automatic operation and data acquisition and storage up to eight years.
Two variants of the Raptech Omega pump are available, 36 V or 48 V with a total head of 73 or 80 m. The user-friendly system provides a reliable and stable operation with a fast response.
