OLCT80 fixed wireless gas detector

Technews Industry Guide - Wireless 2014 Industrial Wireless

Wireless communication is one of the newer technologies to emerge in the field of gas detection. It reduces disruption with the elimination of cables, providing an opportunity for faster and more efficient installations. The use of web-based interfaces for data-logging, data accumulation and communications, also contribute to the overall ease of use.

Designed to meet the demanding needs of large industrial companies, the upgraded the OLCT80 wireless is a major achievement in terms of technical performance and cost optimisation and allows wireless connectivity in ATEX 1 zones. The device is also available as a remote version, with flameproof or intrinsic safety approved sensors depending on the gases to be detected.

The OLCT80 is a triple head gas detector for use in explosive areas, offering 3 built-in relays. It has 4-20 mA and RS-485 outputs for loop connection, and, with its infrared remote controller and its on-board display, it allows non-intrusive one-man calibration.

Available with infrared, catalytic, electrochemical or semiconductor sensors, the OLCT 80 detects:

* Most combustible gases and vapours.

* Refrigerants.

* Oxygen O2.

* Toxic gases – CO2.

The wireless version of the OLCT80 has a maximum range of 3 km, line of sight, making it ideal for detecting gases in sites that are difficult to hardwire. A large range of sensors is available for applications that include:

* Environmental.

* Renewable energy sources.

* Waste to energy conversion.

* Plasma gasification.

* Water desalination.

* Clean coal technology.

* Mining industries

With the OLCT80, Sperosens offers a solution to minimise the risk of exposure to hazardous or explosive gases.
