Westlock Controls has announced the enhanced network capability of its ICoT smart valve positioner series with the inclusion of the Profibus PA protocol. The ICoT 5500 provides reliable measurement of valve stem position for a wide range of actuators. Certified intrinsically safe, the product ensures intelligent control through microprocessor-based systems using the Profibus PA protocol.
The ICoT 5500 is based on Westlock Controls’ robust and reliable 5000 positioner series. Enhanced features include lower power consumption of 12 mA, remote mount capability, transmission reliability and three types of manifold – standard flow, high flow and super high flow. Designed for use in hazardous areas, ICoT 5500 complies with US NEC standards as well as ATEX, IEC and INMETRO certification for the rest of the world. Specifically intended for remote applications, ICoT smart valve positioners can be mounted up to 50 metres away from the controlled device, making them ideal for valves that are located in high vibration or extremely corrosive environments.
Designed for use in petrochemical, oil & gas facilities and process plants, the ICoT 5500 is suitable for rotary, linear, single or double acting applications. It operates over a large temperature range from -40 to 85°C and provides optimum performance through increased sensitivity, fast response, reduced overshoot and minimal hysteresis. Additionally, the product offers auto and manual calibration, as well as diagnostics data including cycle count, travel count, total travel and low pressure.
