Powerful new MAQ20 industrial control system

The highly flexible MAQ20 industrial data acquisition and control system is now available in South Africa. Incorporating more than 25 years of Dataforth Corporation’s design quality in the process control industry, the system was developed for a wide range of applications including factory and process automation, machine automation, military and aerospace, power and energy, oil and gas, and environmental monitoring.
The initial offering is a family of DIN rail mounted, programmable, multi-channel, industrially rugged signal conditioning input and output modules and communication modules. Modules mount on the industry standard 35x7,5 mm gull-wing DIN rail; a backbone mounts within the rail to provide power and communication interconnections between the communication modules and each I/O module.
“The MAQ20 system offers low cost per channel and is powerful, flexible and compact,” says Robert Smith, VP of sales and marketing at Dataforth. “Just one communication module can interface to up to 24 I/O modules to create a system with as many as 384 channels that fits within standard 19” instrumentation racks.”
The system includes input modules for strain, current, voltage, RTD, potentiometer and frequency, as well as discrete I/O signals. Processors within each module make this distributed system extremely powerful. The MAQ20 supports Modbus TCP/IP or RTU protocol, as well as RS-232/422, Ethernet and USB with host software.
“We are extremely excited about the new range since the engineering possibilities for Africa are virtually endless,” says George Chapman, marketing director of Elexsys.
