Mixers for the toughest industrial adhesives

July 2013 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

New and innovative product development is a priority at Adhesive Technologies (AdTec). Today, it manufactures a wide range of specialised adhesives for packaging, panel construction, envelopes, labelling, footwear, flooring, furniture and palletising industry applications.

The company’s strict quality policy dictates constant product review and improvement to ensure the quality of its product range keeps it ahead of the competition. The AdTec laboratory is the hub of the organisation where the focus is to develop technologically advanced adhesive formulations and defect-free products.

AdTec understands that successful product development requires the best equipment and the constant testing of raw materials and new product ideas. In keeping with its policy of a world class laboratory to match world class manufacturing equipment, it recently acquired four new class leading Heidolph Overhead Stirrers as well as the new MR Hei-Tec hot-plate and magnetic stirrer, all supplied by local agents Labotec.

One of the chosen models, RZR 2102 Control, features a sealed housing for protection against corrosion and has the resilience to withstand an aggressive environment for years of maintenance-free operation. This Heidolph model has a 2-gear setting and the power of a 100 W motor that allows torque up to 400 Ncm in an overload situation and 200 Ncm for continuous operation at speeds from 12-2,000 rpm – it is ideal for sticky polymer media with large viscosity ranges. This unit, capable of operating non-stop for extended periods in excess of 120 hours, is ideally equipped to meet the demands of a busy laboratory. Once the criteria and specifications for a viable product have been established, laboratory samples can be scaled-up to 75 kg pilot plant batches for further laboratory development and customer trials.

AdTec prides itself on its philosophy of never compromising the quality of the materials or the machinery it uses. Superior raw materials are sourced both internationally and locally. In addition to maintaining an ISO 9001 accreditation, it applies an absolute commitment to quality to ensure all products are manufactured to the strict quality control procedures required to produce premium trusted products. According to laboratory head and managing director Leon Song: “AdTec has an extensive infrastructure that has been right-sized for the development and manufacture of individual products tailor made to specific customer requirements.”
