High performance water meter from Sensus

More accurate metering over a wider measuring range is the key advantage of a new domestic water meter from Sensus South Africa which integrates seamlessly with existing automated meter reading (AMR) networks used by South African municipalities.
The new volumetric Class C meter – 220C – incorporates advances in manufacturing materials in addition to improved communications technology.
The body of the 220C is of an ultra-strong, composite engineering polymer half the weight of a brass-bodied meter of the same size. The meter’s communications technology incorporates a standard reed switch in addition to a high-integrity inductive pulse capability. This integration into any remote meter reading network, while ensuring the data integrity required for billing purposes.
An additional feature is the vertical configuration of its piston axis assembly which improves the ability to handle dirt without stoppage, crucial when water quality cannot be guaranteed or new meters are installed in old reticulation networks where pipe bursts are frequent.
The meter has undergone extensive testing by the SABS and has been approved by the NRCS (National Regulator for Compulsory Standards Specifications) to the stringent Class C accuracy standard.
