EtherCAT and PoE operation combined

German sensor manufacturer, Wenglor Sensoric, has developed a new junction that enables Ethernet for control automation technology (EtherCAT) protocol to be combined with Power over Ethernet (PoE) operation mode. The junctions provide signal forwarding and power supply in a single unit, thus reducing wiring and installation costs.

Depending on type, up to seven EtherCAT products can be connected to the rugged EtherCAT Junctions with IP67 protection. Two I/O ports are available as well and easy access to process and parameter data, as well as device configuration from any location, make operation simple for the user.

The device unites numerous industry standards into a central interface at field level. In addition to Profinet, EtherCAT is the second Ethernet protocol integrated into Wenglor products as a standard feature. As opposed to other industrial Ethernet solutions, EtherCAT protocol provides advantages of extremely short cycle times and options for vertical integration into industrial networks.

The junction is available in two variants: the ZAC50CN01 is equipped with seven EtherCAT ports, five of which are PoE compatible. The smaller ZAC50CN02 version has four EtherCAT ports with two PoE compatible.
