Temperature Measurement

Infrared temperature sensor with integrated display

April 2013 Temperature Measurement

The new TW7 infrared temperature sensor from ifm electronic can easily measure temperatures up to 1350°C. It is also the first unit to be equipped with an integrated display and operating unit. Easy pushbutton programming ensures quick use. In addition, the sensor features scratch-resistant precision lenses which have minimum sensitivity to scattered light.

Infrared sensors are ideal where temperatures can only be measured indirectly, for example when the temperature is too high. The sensors detect the emitted infrared radiation and convert it into an output signal depending on the chosen switching threshold. The unit features two independent switching outputs for universal programming.

The switching thresholds and output configurations can be set and easily reproduced via the buttons and display. Clearly visible LEDs always indicate the switching status. The sensor is reliable and highly accurate even in rough environments such as steelworks or foundries.
