Multipurpose surge arresters
July 2012
Electrical Power & Protection
The multipurpose DEHNguard S ... VA (FM) single-pole, pluggable varistor and spark-gap based surge arresters from DEHN are designed for general purpose use in LV installations. The arresters are also ideal for protecting power line communications and signal lines in railway systems.
The surge arresters consist of a base part and plug-in protection module and feature a narrow design in accordance with DIN 43880. The multifunctional terminals allow flexibility in connection, as well as with other DIN rail mounted devices in the distribution board. The Thermo Dynamic Control SPD monitoring device provides high reliability and ensures that the arresters enter a safe isolated state, even in the case of extreme overload.
Energy coordinated within DEHN’s Red/Line product family, the DEHNguard S ... VA (FM) has a module locking system that fixes the modules and the base part of the device firmly in place. Neither vibration during transport nor the enormous electromagnetic forces of discharge can loosen the protection modules. The surge arresters can be easily replaced without tools by simply pressing the user-friendly module release button.
