The KD KE low voltage electronic motor protection relays from NewElec are designed to protect conveyor, compressor, crusher, fan and pump motors against potential damage. The relays can provide a warning that a problem is developing before damage occurs, as well as uncovering possible problems with the existing process.
KD KE relays boast a wide range of user-selectable protection features. Benefits include thermal overload, earth insulation lockout, earth leakage and short-circuit protection, along with frequency and power factor measurement. Combined with the 2000 event records and 60 last fault records, these features result in a superior protection relay.
The integrated current transformer allows direct measurements from 0,1 to 50 A and external CTs can be used to extend the current range to the customer’s requirements. Power measurement (real and apparent) provides real-time power utilisation monitoring, as well as power consumption monitoring over extended periods. All features and information can be accessed through an external Profibus communication unit.
The relays are easy to set up via a man-to-machine interface (MMI) unit with infrared link or via a computer with NewElec’s free set up software.

Electrical Power & Protection
During loadshedding, PLCs and OT systems often fail, not because they are directly tied to the factory’s core manufacturing process, but because they are now an integral part of IT infrastructure. When an IT system shuts down, the impact is far more complex than simply restarting machinery.
