WEBER-HYDRAULIK is a leading international specialist in customised hydraulic solutions. The company has been developing high-quality cylinders, control blocks, steering and suspension systems, valves and power units for mobile machinery, commercial vehicles and machine tools for over 85 years. After its old buffer warehouse, which was built in 1991, had become outdated and was partially worn out mechanically, the decision was made to completely renovate it. “We also used the modernisation as an opportunity to completely redefine our processes and make them more efficient,” explains Chris Gulyasch, project manager at WEBER-HYDRAULIK. The short implementation time posed a particular challenge. Despite the extensive work involved, the modernisation had to be completed within three weeks due to operational requirements.
Efficient processes and transparent warehouse management
“Due to the tight schedule, the dismantling and removal of the old stacker cranes and the lifting of the new stacker cranes into place using a crane via the roof was an impressive spectacle. The successful logistics and excellent coordination of these demanding tasks were the result of an outstanding team effort,” explains Gulyasch. “The modernisation was completed successfully and on schedule.”
In addition to new rack-mounted conveyors with aisle equipment and automatic control, there are now five new ergonomic and height-adjustable workstations with hydraulic scissor lift tables in the picking area. Furthermore, the teams have created more space in the warehouse through restructuring.
The modernisation measures were rounded off by the implementation of a new material flow computer which takes over order and storage location management, while system visualisation is ensured by additional software. “With the new system, processes in the warehouse are now recorded seamlessly and transparently, and we have already seen significant improvements in fault management,” says Gulyasch.
