Supporting fast, safe helicopter service across Sweden

June 2025 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Helicopter services are often used in Sweden by third party companies to carry goods and people from one end of the country to another. In an environment with high risks and fierce competition, Storm Heliworks’ fleet of eight helicopters operates on assignments throughout Scandinavia. The company provides full-package solutions with helicopters as a platform. From lifting and transporting missions in the construction field or the forest environment, to the sawing of trees to secure power lines and even supporting firefighting, Storm Heliworks covers a wide range of applications and is ready for any mission across Sweden.

One of Storm Heliworks’ areas of expertise is the trimming of trees round Sweden’s 178 000 kilometres of power lines to clear them from any obstruction.

“There is simply no room for approximation,” explains production manager, Tomas Perman. “In such extreme conditions, everything is important and needs to be perfectly accurate, so the not taken lightly. The highest quality aircraft maintenance requires the best test equipment to ensure reliability and safety for the crew, helicopters and operators.”

This led Storm Heliworks to invest in high-precision, reliable test equipment. The company now holds Part 145 accreditation for helicopter maintenance and it is crucial for it to have state-of-the-art test equipment.

When the company decided to invest in a battery charger and analyser, one of the owners, Dennis Sundqvist, who is also a pilot, started gathering information on what was available. After browsing through several brands and products he believed that ATEQ Aviation had the best cost-effective solution and was the best partner to work with. “Your website, expertise and everything about your company looked extremely serious and reliable. We could clearly see your products were of modern manufacture compared to other players, even famous ones that had been on the market for years”, adds Perman. “As a young company, when you invest you invest wisely, so price and value for money are assessed carefully. The ATEQ BCA ticked all the boxes and we can see the instrument has been designed and manufactured with a modern approach. It is stylish and easy to operate and it does not look bulky like other equivalents on the market.”

Storm Heliworks contacted ATEQ Aviation sales manager for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, Piotr Gorski, and was impressed by the quality of the advice and support received. This only confirmed their decision to invest in the ATEQ solution. They were also offered technical training that was provided by ATEQ Aviation’s after-sales and service manager, Abou Coulibaly. The mechanic in charge of the battery maintenance at Storm Heliworks was shown how to use the ATEQ BCA in manual and autonomous modes, with in-depth training on automation and programming sequences. The team was pleased to see that the instrument was as modern and user-friendly as they had seen on the ATEQ Aviation website and discussed with the sales representative.

“It’s impressive how quickly your division has established itself in the market. You have not been in the aviation industry for that long compared to other manufacturers and yet you managed to develop innovative, user-friendly and cost-effective test equipment with an easy-to-use interface and at the same time develop the branding of your division on the marketing side,” says  Perman.

Storm Heliworks sees this as an opportunity for business development and intends to extend the range of services it offers to include battery maintenance.
