World’s fastest 14-bit arbitrary waveform generator

January 2025 Electrical Power & Protection

The ARB Rider AWG-7000 is the world’s fastest 14-bit arbitrary waveform generator, with a 20 GS/s real time update rate and 14-bit vertical resolution. Available in two- or four-channel models, the ARB Rider AWG-7000 is the fastest arbitrary function generator (AFG) in the world, reaching up to a 6,5 GHz sine wave. Thanks to Simple Rider software, it offers best-in-class performances and an easy to use interface.

The 10 GHz bandwidth, with up to 5 Vpp output range and up to 9 Gsample memory depth, makes the AWG-7000 the ideal choice for physics experiments, fast quantum key distribution (QKD), quantum sensing, optics and photonics, RF/wireless, and aerospace, and defence applications.

No compromise on analogue performance

The fast rise time of 50 ps can be achieved at the maximum amplitude of 5 Vpp.

There are up to 32 digital channel options, and combined with two or four analogue channels these make the AWG-7000 a fully featured mixed signal generator. It is now possible to generate up to four analogue signals fully synchronised with 32 digital lines (LVTTL or LVDS standards) at the highest frequency ever. A dedicated intra-chassis synchronisation bus allows multi-instrument synchronisation of up to four units. The 16 analogue channels and 128 digital channels make for the most powerful mixed signal generator in the world.

Pulses for all your needs

You can easily generate a complex pulse train, a series of radar pulses, drive electro and acousto-optic modulators, pulsed RF signals with impairments, Gaussian pulses, multi-level pulses, PAM and PRBS signals, and pulses for advanced research and quantum computing. The AWG-7000 is the ideal partner for your most complex tests and cutting-edge applications.

Optics and photonics, quantum and RF wireless

The AWG-7000 is the ideal choice for the frontier of science and technology experiments and cutting-edge challenges like high-energy physics, optical, laser, photonics and RF wireless communication. The AWG-7000 Series instrument can create virtually any signal, whether analogue or digital, ideal or distorted, standard or custom. You can easily build complex RF/IF/IQ waveforms, small width, high-amplitude pulses to drive electro/acousto-optic modulators or pulsed laser diodes. It can also be used in quantum optics experiments such as manipulating the nitrogen vacancy colour centre in a diamond.

Wideband radar and electronic warfare systems need high-fidelity signals to replicate real-world situations and complex environment scenarios. Moreover, today’s motor vehicles include highly sophisticated electronic control units with very sensitive electronic components. As demands increase, next-generation advanced driver-assistance systems require camera and radar systems with increasingly high resolution. Camera, LIDAR, radar, and ultrasound devices also need higher bandwidth and lower latency networking, while more complex automotive technologies are still to come.
