SAN People
In a move to derive the maximum benefit of integration between marketing and development teams, Pandora Technologies has been renamed SAN People (www.sanpeople.co.za). Announcing the new name, Richard Friedman (Managing Director of Control Instruments Group Limited, the JSE-listed holding company of SAN People) said that the name change was a practical one aimed at speeding up their ability to respond to changing needs in the international marketplace.
Since inception of the companies a year ago, Pandora Technologies has marketed the thin server connectivity devices developed by its sister company in the Control Instruments stable, SAN People Development. SAN People Development’s development team is widely respected and regarded as one of the best in connectivity in the country.
Physically, the two teams are now under one roof in Stellenbosch and a shared company name is seen as the ‘psychological’ bonding of the two companies said Friedman. The decision to rename Pandora Technologies, SAN People (www.sanpeople.co.za) came after a lot of discussion and involvement of the teams says Friedman. A major contributing factor was the input of the staff in the business who identified very strongly with the name. It is also a uniquely South African name and is completely different from other technical company names in the international market.
“The strength of any company is in its people – and we believe that ‘SAN People’ reflects the spirit of the people in the companies and is the name to take the innovation and abilities of the teams into the local and international markets.”
SAN People’s thin server products enable a wide variety of electronic and electrical devices to be connected directly to networks and the Internet. This means that products and devices are each given their own unique IP address which enables them to be interfaced internally through a company’s existing network and externally via the Internet. This opens up numerous possibilities and applications to people in areas such as process control, access control, PABX management, remote site management, the banking arena, smart cards, electronic displays and fire detection. The products are sold locally and internationally. SAN People is enjoying rapid growth as its new products are being introduced into the marketplace.
