Electrex responds to market demand.

Feb 2000 News

Electrex, Instrumentation & Control, South Africa's international control and instrumentation exhibition, is expanding its market appeal by co-locating with two other synergistic trade shows.

Endorsed by the SA Institute of Measurement & Control (SAIMC), Electrex will in future be held in conjunction with two other elements, Fluidtrans & Airtech, the international motion control and air technology exhibition and Mech-H, the mechanical and materials handling exhibition.

"Technological advances and economic necessity have accelerated the convergence and crossover of vertical market segments," says TML Reed Exhibitions Managing Director Jo Melville. "The co-location of these three niche sector shows reflects global trends and was in direct response to market demand."

Support for amalgamation was found in the significant synergies in the visitor profiles of the three shows.

"Our research showed that, by and large, these events are attracting the same decision makers; and following the enthusiastic support of exhibitors, it just made common marketing sense to concurrently co-locate them," says Mrs Melville. She stressed however, that while the shows would be amalgamated they would retain their individual identities: "Each is a high-profile brand in its own right."

The amalgamated event will open its doors to the trade for the first time in mid-March 2002 at Gallagher Estate in Midrand.
