Isolated voltage transducers for traction applications

Sensors & Transducers
For 30 years, LEM has used Hall effect technology for its voltage transducers supplied to the industrial and railway traction markets. Today, the trend is to save space while maintaining or improving performance. To achieve this, LEM has now applied isolating amplifier technology, giving birth to the AV 100 series of voltage transducers.
AV100 series allows DC, AC, pulsed and complex voltage measurements with galvanic isolation between primary (high power) and secondary circuits (electronic circuits).
In addition to the space saving (around 271 cm3 volume saved vs usual Hall effect technology-based voltage transducers), they provide a large dynamic (response time at 10% of VPMAX up to 13 µs) allowing wide bandwidth (up to 13 kHz) in a unique and compact design to cover voltage measurements from 50 to 1500 V r.m.s. nominal. 50 mA are supplied at the AV100's outputs as current output when the nominal primary voltage is applied on the M5 threaded studs primary connections. A dual fastening mode is proposed for secondary connections, either 3 x M5 threaded studs for 'secure' and robust connection or 3 x Faston (6,35 x 0,8 mm) for quick installation.
Mainly used in traction applications such as main and auxiliary converters, sub-stations and battery chargers, for example, the AV 100 series is also the ideal tool for voltage measurement in industrial applications.
All transducers are CE marked, which guarantees compliance with the European EMC directive 89/336/EEC. EN50155 standard is the reference used at LEM to guarantee the overall performance of the transducers in traction environment for electrical, environmental and mechanical parameters. The AV 100 series also complies with the EN50124-1 (insulation levels), NFF 1610/2 (fire and smoke classification) standards.
