CHI and Cutler-Hammer extend distribution agreement

March 2003 News

Eaton's Cutler-Hammer group has renewed its sub-Saharan distribution agreement with CHI Control, covering its distribution and control product range.

Despite a longstanding partnership, which dates back to the 1930s, Rob Hare, sales director at CHI Control, says there are tangible benefits to revisable agreements such as the one shared by CHI Control and Cutler-Hammer. "Reviewing a distribution agreement means that both parties are evaluated in terms of specific deliverables by their partner, ensuring that the capital investment by each of the companies is secure.

"But of a higher priority is the opportunity it provides the distributor to evaluate the products it is offering, ensuring that it meets local demand. It pleased us to renew our distribution agreement with Cutler-Hammer as we believe that its product is relevant to the local market, delivering the quality demanded by CHI Control customers."

Eaton's Cutler-Hammer group is a full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and control products with an established local following. Hare says that the brand has a substantial installed base within the sub-Saharan mining arena, which, he adds, requires robust electrical equipment packaged in a durable design, able to withstand daily activities such as rock drilling and general vibrations.

"Electrical control forms the backbone of various mining activities and thus needs to offer impeccable reliability," he adds.

A cornerstone of Eaton's growth initiative for its Cutler-Hammer group has been, and still remains, new product development. To ensure innovative products, the company does research into power distribution and circuit protection technology, as well as control products and specialised applications.
