Africa Automation Technology Fair announces new 2021 dates

January 2021 News

The Africa Automation Technology Fair will now take place from 7-9 September 2021 at The Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa, delivering a significant ROI for exhibitors and providing a much-needed platform for live and virtual connection between automation technology stakeholders engaged in bringing solutions to Africa.

Carol Weaving, managing director for Reed Exhibitions Africa, unpacked the decision, taken following a robust study amongst exhibitors and visitors which indicated strong support for holding a live event in September 2021. This was followed by a virtual round table discussion with key stakeholders.

“We are delighted to be able to inform our industry partners that we will be going ahead with the Africa Automation Technology Fair Africa as a live event with a hybrid value add, incorporating the best characteristics of a live showcase, and complimented by exciting new virtual features,” says Weaving. “Our sentiment survey revealed that 84% of visitors confirmed they wanted to attend the Africa Automation Technology Fair in 2021 provided the necessary precautions are in place with regards to safety protocols related to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Johan Maartens, CEO of the Society for Automation Instrumentation Mechatronics and Control (SAIMC), commended Reed Exhibitions for making the decision to move the event to a later slot in 2021: “In times as unprecedented as these, it is commendable that Reed Exhibitions has taken the initiative in consultation with key industry stakeholders, like our members, to move the event to a later date. The SAIMC is in full support of the event.”

“With the extra virtual features, we will cater for any African and international visitors who may not be able to attend the physical element of the show,” says portfolio director, Chardonnay Marches. “This will benefit visitors and exhibitors by connecting additional African and international visitors that would not have been able to attend the live event, meaning that even more networking will take place.”

Thorough research and preparations has been made to ensure that the live/hybrid event adheres to all stringent safety protocols and regulations. The venue will be able to accommodate up to 4 000 visitors per day to allow the necessary physical distancing.
