A high temperature/high pressure version of the indusltry standard Prowirl 77 vortex flowmeter is now available. Vortex flowmeters are typically used for volumetric flowrate measurements in steam, gas and nonconductive liquid applications. The new model opens up the possibility to use the proven strengths of Prowirl 77, especially its outstanding dirt insensitivity and exceptional plant vibration immunity, for an even wider range of process conditions. This, together with the cost-effective price of the Prowirl 77 high pressure/high temperature version will mean that in new and upgrade projects it is feasible to stay with one range of vortex flowmeters, reducing training and spare parts costs.
The pressure rating of the new Prowirl 77H has been increased from 4 to 16 MPa. High pressure applications often imply high temperautre as well, the temperature range has been extended from -40 to +260°C to -200 to +400°C. The temperature range of the standard Prowirl 40 bar device has also been extended to cover-200 to +400°C.
Where the existing Endress+Hauser range offers the flanged and wafer-type flowmeters for pipe diameters from DN15 to DN300 (1/2 to 12") for an expanded scope of appliclations, the new high pressure devices will be available as flanged versions for nominal diameters (DN 15 to DN 150 (1/2 to 6"). The enhanced Prowirl 77 family of vortex flowmeters are expected to address 99% of industry applications.

Editor's Choice Flow Measurement & Control
There are many processes where it is undesirable for the load to suddenly change quickly, for example in the paper industry. Examples of level control have involved reasonably fast tuning. An example of a level loop tuned this way and responding to a step change in setpoint is given.
