Industrial Ethernet switch extends RJ45 connection system

Woodhead Connectivity has developed an industrial Ethernet switch to work alongside its RJ-Lnxx RJ-45 IP67 rated industrial Ethernet connection system.

Unlike a repeater hub, the new industrial Ethernet switch will intelligently route Ethernet messages out of the appropriate port. It has been designed as both a store and forward switch which will not only route Ethernet messages, but also store and communicate messages from multiple stations on a time critical basis. The RJ-Lnnx ENHSD switch includes five ports and its DIN rail mount design enables simple mounting in a standard industrial cabinet.

Simple to get up and running with no programming necessary, it features address auto learning which enhances bandwidth efficiency and aids in determinism for control applications. Its 10 Mpbs/100 Mpbs auto-negotiation enables devices that transmit at different speeds to reside on the same subnet, and the inclusion of a dedicated uplink port allows linking to another switch without the need for crossover cables. The switch has full duplex capability with 1,4 Gb/s of total bandwidth and LED indicators for status and diagnostic information. Woodhead Connectivity is represented locally by Shorrock Automation.
