B&W contributes to Voorspoed's successful completion

B&W Instrumentation and Electrical's performance on the complex Voorspoed Concentrator project contributed to the successful completion of the project. The project forms part of Messina Platinum's R180 million concentrator expansion programme.
Engineering managing contractor, Dowding, Reynard and Associates, looks for stringent on-site management and programming from its instrumentation and electrical contractors and believes that B&W's ability played an important part in the timely completion of this project.
The contract called for the provision of high-tension substations and the outgoing low voltage circuits to motor control centres and a 5 km 11 kV overhead line. The scope of the work involved the cabling and cable racking and small power and lighting. Some 75 tons of cable were installed and the contract also called for B&W to handle the installation, calibration and commissioning of all instrumentation.
B&W's skilled team, which receives both on-site and academic training on an ongoing basis, and its experienced site management personnel played an important part in the pre-planning and successful implementation of this project which had to be completed within the fast track period of only 14 weeks to enable Messina Platinum plant to increase output. B&W has established an enviable track record of successfully handling complex instrumentation and electrical projects, which are completed on time and within budget.
