A whale of a time in Mossel Bay

December 2002 News

Sited on the beach, the venue for the Mossel Bay Roadshow was more than a challenge for the 'Vaalies' to stay-at-their-post-and-exhibit-their-products. A sunny summer's day also saw the arrival of the Cape Town fraternity in their two-seater, soft-top sports cars which we were told is a visa requirement to live in Cape Town.

The exhibition day at the Diaz Beach Community hall opened at 14h00 on 17 October with a full complement of exhibitors, and was very well supported throughout the day. Thanks to the support of Marc Middendorp the visitor complement from PetroSA made up a large portion of the registrations taken at the entrance. Visitors from other surrounding industries and municipalities were numerous, and some travelled from as far as Knysna.

Amongst the regular whale sightings in the bay, the Profibus user group managed to host a seminar at the event, which was a very useful update for users in the area of current technologies and trends. Speakers at the seminar were Ivan de Waal and Tony Jacobsen. On-line visitor registrations for these shows have also now seen an increase that significantly speeds up the registration process for visitors. Exhibiting companies at this year's Mossel Bay show were:

AC/DC Dynamics, Adroit Technologies, Anglo Allied Engineering, Atlas Industrial, Bentley & Nevada, Bürkert Contromatic, Control Techniques, Endress+Hauser, Flowserve, Futuristix, Ind Auto & Control, Lapp Cables, Loadtech, Emtech, National Instruments, RS Components SA, Schneider Electric, Spescom MeasureGraph, Sustech Manufacturing, Temperature Controls, Wika Instruments, Yokogawa SA.

Next year's venues will include visits to Rustenburg, Stellenbosch, Richards Bay, Secunda, East London, Port Elizabeth, Vaal Triangle and Nelspruit.
