AST MSI awarded BMW contract

AST MSI, a business unit of the AST Group, has been awarded the electrical and control system installation at BMW's new preparation plant in Rosslyn. The installation is the first phase of the overall contract, which was awarded to Wetron GmbH, a German company that secured the initial order from BMW Germany.
The Rosslyn plant, near Pretoria, was the BMW Group's first foreign location. Over 3500 employees manufacture up to 250 components for the BMW 3-Series daily. A quarter of these automobiles are sold in South Africa; three-quarters of them are exported.
"As Wetron's local implementation partner, AST MSI is once again working with international partners to ensure that the customer gets a world class production system with local support," says Ricky Huyser, business development manager of AST MSI. "In phase one we will be designing, producing and installing electrical and control infrastructure for the project's value that extends into the millions."
