'Best of what's new' at Computer Faire
September 2002
News
Spescom MeasureGraph Networks had three of its products namely the NetTest CMA4000i; the NetTest Bare Fiber Adapter, and the Ideal Lantek 7 accepted into the 'Best Of What's New' at this year's Computer Faire, held at Gallagher Estate between 21-24 May 2002.
Computer Faire accepts entries for 'Best Of What's New' from exhibitors, the criterion being that the products entered are truly new and innovative. Aldean Prior of Reed Exhibitions, having surveyed visitors to last years' Computer Faire, found that 73% particularly wanted to see genuinely new products. However, with over 300 exhibitors, it proved difficult to find these new offerings.
Exhibitors were invited to submit both software and hardware products for consideration. Technical data for these products was then forwarded to a panel of five leading IT journalists for judging and a total of 58 were accepted. All three of Spescom's products were amongst these:
* The NetTest's CMA4000i that combines the first and only optic time domain reflectometer (OTDR) to offer a full 50 dB dynamic range with a powerful optical spectrum analyser, featuring an unparalleled 10 GHz channel resolution.
* The recently launched Ideal Lantek 7 has revolutionised testing and certification. It is the world's first cable tester that is fully compliant with the emerging CAT 7/ISO F standards. It is also the industry's only tester capable of certifying up to 750 MHz.
* NetTest's Bare Fiber Adapter, an innovative, low-cost solution to the challenge of attaching bare fibre to test equipment that eliminates the need to fusion-splice the fibre under test or prepare the fibre end face.
Hilton Preston, sales manager for Spescom MeasureGraph's Network Systems says, "Loads of people who saw our products at the 'Best Of What's New' section, were prompted to visit our stand and experience them first hand. The fact that they were able to handle and 'test-drive' these new innovations, made a world of difference to their perception of the product."
