Mossel Bay instrumentation and electrical contract for B&W

A complex instrumentation and electrical contract at the new Low Aromatics Distillates project at Petro SA's Mossel Bay plant has been awarded to B&W Instrumentation and Electrical by Foster Wheeler.
The contract involves the installation of additional low-voltage switchgear onto the existing equipment as well as the installation of transformers, distribution boards, small power and lighting. The company will also handle the earthing, the instrumentation, both low and medium voltage cabling, racking and terminations.
B&W will also be responsible for mounting the field instruments on suitably designed stands, install the instrumentation tubing and check the finally installed instruments - this includes a full range of testing activities
B&W will sub-contract a large proportion of the work to empowerment contractors, which will handle the small power and lighting under B&W's supervision. B&W is well equipped in the mentoring and development of staff in order to enhance skills. The company will work with the empowerment company and assist them raising their skills levels enabling them in future to handle projects of this nature independently.
