March 2002 Training & Education

National Instruments South Africa has just completed another successful series of seminars countrywide. The seminar entitled 'PC-based machine vision' was conducted in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg and was well received, attracting engineers from all disciplines - feedback was positive.

Image processing and machine vision systems have become a vital part of many industrial and scientific processes thanks to recent strides in PC power. National Instruments is a leader in the vision revolution, with its IMAQ product line, which features easy-to-use hardware and software designed to complement other NI products - and to create a complete measurement and automation solution. NI imaging products offer the ability to design and implement vision solutions according to the user's unique needs and specifications.

The seminar covered the following topics:

* Machine vision fundamentals.

* Camera technologies.

* Lighting techniques.

* Image processing and rapid prototyping.

Those who were unable to attend the seminar and would like to find out more information about implementing a machine vision system are encouraged to give National Instruments a call.
